Florence, 13 June – There is great anticipation in Florence for the publication of Dan Brown’s new book ‘Inferno’. The novel is loosely based on the great Florentine poet Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ since it centres on the piazza and historical buildings of Florence.
Authorities are hoping that the novel will further enhance Florence as the cultural capital of Italy and attract millions of tourists to the city just as ‘Angels and Demons’, one of his previous works, did for the Vatican and Rome.
Members of the Italian Dante Society also welcome the new book, despite its historical inaccuracies, because it will bring the poet’s work to a much wider audience. Florence is a regular stop for travellers on many of Vita Italian Tours.
