Going for gold in the Olympic fashion stakes

Posted 24 July, 2012 By vitaitaliantou

London, 24 July – Giorgio Armani has been entrusted with dressing Italy’s athletes for the upcoming London Olympics commencing in little under five days time. Armani has stayed away from the green and red of Italy’s national flag and has instead gone with a predominantly blue and white elegant minimalist theme in line with the traditional blue uniforms used up until the 1970’s. Italian athletes will receive a kit of 50 pieces in an Armani suitcase complete with jackets for the opening and closing ceremonies with words of the national anthem emblazed inside.

The iconic Italian designer who is known as a big sports fan joins the likes of fellow designers Stella McCartney and Ralph Lauren in decking out their respective nations: the United Kingdom and the United States.
